Film shots

The first photo question everyone asks me is “film or digital.” Well, the answer is both, but mostly digital. These two images were made with film on a square format Holga camera. A Holga is a poorly made plastic camera from Russia that has a devout following among the art crowd. Most of the pictures don’t turn out but you occasionally get beautiful, dreamlike shots that are sharp in the center and blurry on the edges.

The first shot is of the ancient Santa Maria fort at the south end of the Porto da Barra beach. The second is of artwork I found on an alley wall, also in Barra. It is an amazing piece with plants, flowers and Brazilian birds.
