Igreja Santo Antonio da Barra

This is an amazing church which sits atop a hill at the end of the Porto da Barra beach. After I photographed the outside I stepped in and was greeted by a flying bucket full of flowers. I ducked as it crashed on the marble floor in front of me splattering water and petals all over the pews. A man in the front of the church yelled at the person who tossed it- I suppose he was too lazy to carry it down the stairs. It is one of the oldest churches in Salvador, construction began in 1595, and is very popular for weddings due to it’s commanding view of the bay from the rear courtyard.
